Sub TitleRisk Estimation Following Infarction Non-invasive Evaluation – ICD efficacy

The primary objective of this project is to reduce the burden of death from cardiac arrest. We will accomplish this by assessing the risk of sudden, arrhythmic death in survivors of a myocardial infarction (MI) and testing whether prophylactic implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) placement will improve survival.
Impact:

  • Significantly reduce the risk of sudden death
  • Significantly improve the efficiency, effectiveness and accessibility of arrhythmia care delivery in Canada and the world
  • Our scalable and simple method of risk assessment can be broadly implemented, supporting later broad adoption
